Hotel Interior Design: Maybourne Riviera
Article; Hotel Interior Design.
The Maybourne Riviera offers an unrivalled position facing the Mediterranean, with stunning views of the landscape extending along the shoreline from Menton to Italy in the east to Monte Carlo in the west. The area is well-known for its extensive artistic and cultural heritage as well as its unparalleled beauty.
CONSTRUCTION & DESIGN
The hotel has 70 exquisitely decorated rooms, all of which have their own patios and unspoiled sea views. The structure is divided into three wings: the Corniche wing, which elegantly follows the contours of the surroundings, the Azur wing, where the suites rest on the cliffside, and the Crystal wing, which proudly juts out of the cliff face. In terms of hotel interior design, the Maybourne Riviera pays homage to the Mediterranean relaxed pace of life, placing comfort and calm at the forefront.
To create this one-of-a-kind location, The Maybourne Group worked with some well-known artists, designers, and architects. The hotel aesthetic was a collaborative effort between the Maybourne Group design team headed by Michelle Wu, André Fu, Bryan O’Sullivan Studio, Marcelo Joulia, Pierre Yovanovitch, and Rigby & Rigby. All these creative teams contributed their own distinctive aesthetics to the mix.
The creatives were all inspired by the same things, even though their styles were very different from one another: the azure blue of the sky and the sea, the swell of the waves, the pastel tones, the soft lights, the noble materials, and everything that evokes the easygoing lifestyle so beloved of the French Riviera. The artists who have made the area famous have also received special attention. Hence, the choice of furniture, textures, shapes, and materials utilised to construct the interiors is influenced by Eileen Gray’s work.
BAR & RESTAURANT
The Maybourne Riviera hopes to establish itself as a Côte d’Azur culinary hotspot with a variety of signature eateries. Two restaurants, Ceto and Riviera, feature the culinary vision of Chef Mauro Colagreco of Menton’s Mirazur, which has three Michelin stars and was named the “greatest restaurant in the world” by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019. The Piano Bar is the perfect place to share a coffee or a cocktail with a breathtaking view of the sea.
SPACE SPA
The Maybourne Riviera opened their spa in the spring of 2022. Visitors can enjoy the hammam, sauna, hair salon, and seven private treatment rooms, all of which boast spectacular sea views. The hotel has made the decision to surround itself with the exclusive and olfactory brand, La Eva, an artisanal, holistic brand with an aromatic aura, that enhances the senses and transports you on a seductive sensory adventure for the body. Viral sensation skincare manufacturer Augustinus Bader was selected as the lead cosmetic treatment supplier for the hotel.
OUTDOOR AREAS
The Maybourne Riviera is located in the centre of gorgeously restored historical grounds by landscape architect Jean Mus. Tiered walkable gardens facilitate easy pace walking for guests. The gardens boast a citrus orchard and herb garden – adding to the ambience so synonymous with the French Riviera. The Crystal Wing’s foot is home to a magnificent infinity pool. The view runs from Italy to Monaco between sky and water.
