Villa Valbonne: JFK’s French Riviera Holiday Home
stories
Kennedy family French Riviera holiday home; A secluded country estate tucked away between charming towns of Valbonne and Mougins, housed one of American history’s most iconic families. The impressive Domaine sits nestled away in secluded gardens. The home is a 9 bedroom mansion bursting with characteristic interiors. Design details in the home are synonymous with this region. The home is located in a private estate of 18 hectares. The home itself, recreational spaces, landscaped gardens and woodland are all comprised of the estate.
The grounds of the villa boast the following; An eye-catching swimming pool adorned in marble, manicured gardens, lush tennis court. Jacques Couelle was the iconic architect behind the gardens. As a result, Coulle later acquired the moniker of `the Architect of Billionaires’. The Domaine has impressive views across rolling hills and onto the Mediterranean Sea. The Kennedy dynasty spent many balmy summers on the Riviera. Moreover, when the family wanted to escape the crowds in Nantucket or Hyannis Port, they came to Villa Valbonne. The home is a perfect backdrop to one of the US’s most prolific families. The villa is glamorous and tastefully decorated in a sympathetic manner. The impressive home was destined to be a space to entertain.
The Kennedys were known to frequent the nearby Hotel du Cap d’Antibes and surrounding areas on beach excursions. It was on these trips that Joseph Kennedy developed a scandalous bond with performer Marlena Dietrich that intertwined their families. The family would spend many summers in the south of France rubbing shoulders with the upper echelons of the international jet-set. These connections would help cement the Kennedys as one most prolific families in American history.
The home is listed with international agency Knight Frank and is currently available for holiday or long stay rentals; enquire with agency for more information and availability.
