Q: How is Luxoria different than other interior design firms?
I think we are different in many ways. We have an in-depth knowledge of a variety of things
including real estate, property investment, the logistics of working within France. In many cases, a Luxoria client gets free consultation in all of the above fields. It’s not something we charge for, but it is an unforeseen service that comes up while doing projects.
Q: What is behind the name Luxoria?
I love the way the word sounds. It’s an auditory design that provokes an image. Luxury, elegance, exclusivity. A Luxoria client is the type of person that only accepts the best quality material: the finest marbles, the most prestigious names in furniture. The company needs to reflect our clients and we believe the name does just that.
Q: What has been your favorite project so far?
Without doubt a villa in the most prestigious area of Cannes. It was a total transformation from rags
to riches so to say. We revolutionized this otherwise plain house and turned it into a sleek modern
luxurious dream property with all the mods and cons worthy of a property of that caliber. It’s our job to see what can be, it’s our clients job to walk into their dream home.
Q: What is your dream project?
A dream project is always when you’re given absolute freedom to do want you want and you’re able
to apply your vision from start to finish. But a dream project in another sense would be undertaking
a hotel or a resort project. Luxoria has been in talks to do just such a project. A dream day for us would be inviting all our friends and fans to a champagne reception at a newly renovated Luxoria hotel project.
Q: Do you have any advice for young interior designers’?
Just get on with it. It might not be easy to begin with and your first project might be for a friend or
relative but you may have to start small and work your way up. This is at least how I started. My
first projects were small studios and friends apartments, the big villas along with greater recognition
didn’t come until much later.
Q: What’s one thing that you wish you would have known before starting Luxoria?
It’s all in the details! Of course I knew this starting out, but when someone sees a Luxoria project in a magazine or online, they are only getting a glimpse of the Iceberg. Behind that beautiful façade is a whole slew of organization, permits, and scheduling (not to mention electricity and plumbing). We are all drawn to design because of the final product, but it’s often a very challenging road to get to the final photo.
Q: Who are some of your design inspirations?
Art is a big inspiration, I’m also greatly inspired by my many travels but among my peers I’d say that
the ones that stand out for me are Piet Boon, Tom Dixon & Kelly Wearstler.
