For its fifth year, this event organised by AD magazine is giving carte blanche to sixteen designers, each of whom has been asked to create a living space around a work of their choice, to showcase little-known masterpieces from the museum’s reserve collection.

The public will be able to discover rarely shown works and also roam through decors normally seen only on the pages of the magazine. These designers, with their varying styles and sensibilities, are not being asked to comply with the museum’s habitual scenographic demands, but on the contrary to create genuine living spaces – dressing room, study, boudoir, etc. – in the nave’s side aisles. The dual aim of this novel idea is to capture the spirit of the moment and propose visions of the home of the future.

This project seeks to elevate the art of living to its highest level, enlisting the knowledge and skills of the finest craftsmen and embodying Les Arts Décoratifs’ fundamental principle, the realisation of the beautiful in the useful. It is also another opportunity for the museum to continue the close collaboration it nurtures with decorators, interior architects and designers, a tradition Les Arts Décoratifs has perpetuated since its foundation.
